Candle Care

Thank you so much for your support! We are SO excited for you to burn your new candle! Wood wicks require a bit more attention and care than a regular wick, they will extinguish themselves if their wicks are too long. This can easily be resolved with a few short tips and tricks. Once you become familiar with crackling wood wicks, you'll truly enjoy their unique aesthetic and modern appeal. Here are a few tips and safety precautions to help you have a great burning experience.

Lighting your candle

Wood wicks function differently. Before burning, trim your wicks to 1/6". You can cut it straight across with our rose gold wick trimmer, scissors or clippers.

Now you're ready to light it up- Because of their width, you want to ensure the wick is completely lit before removing your lighter from the wick. This may take a few seconds. We recommend using a long stem lighter designed for candles to easily reach the wick.

Our single wick 8oz candle is ideal for a bedroom sized space.

Crystal Candles

If your candle contains crystals, we recommend removing the large crystals before lighting your candle. After the first burn once the top layer of wax is melted you should scoop out any remaining crystals with a metal spoon to protect your fingers from the warm wax. Any dents in the wax will even out once you light your candle once again.

Burn time

Candles all have a burn memory. To prevent tunneling in the wax, and to get the most life out of your candle, we need to allow our first burn to reach a complete melt pool before turning off the candle. This means you need to allow enough time for the melted wax to reach the edges of the glass before turning it off. Full melt pool can take 2-3 hours. So its best plan your candle burning sessions accordingly. Burning candles only for short periods may cause the wax to tunnel. Don't burn your candle for more than 4 hour increments.

Trimming wicks

Trimming your wicks before each use is important! Wood wicks cannot fuel the wax through the wick if excess charred buildup is left blocking the wick from the previous burn. Not trimming your wick can cause your candle to slowly dim and extinguish itself. If this happens don't panic, once your wax has cooled and hardened, you need to trim your wick with a wick trimmer available in our accessories tab, or by simply pinching the wick with a tissue in between your fingertips to remove the excess. Discard the debris in the trash. You can now relight your candle for a new burn.
